As I stood atop a cliff in Algonquin Park one afternoon, I was struck by the penetrating silence of the scene below broken only by the croaking of the occasional crow, hence the name Broken Silence. I was also intrigued by a sweeping shape of snow captured on a rock face. The extended motion of the bird’s wings mirror the sweep of that snow formation.
