The Arbutus became my favourite tree when I moved from Northern BC south to Vancouver Island. They can grow in the craziest forms along the coast, and display so many colours when their bark begins to peel. This one was clinging to the cliffside with several other trees, which were casting their shadows onto the beach down below.
