Cecilia Johnstone is a landscape and portrait painter living in Vancouver, BC. Over the past five years, Cecilia has built up an extensive body of coastline paintings spanning from her home in the Pacific Northwest, to the English Channel, to the far-flung Outer Hebrides. Painting in oils with only the smallest 00 brushes, Cecilia seeks to capture the feeling of a place - through the colours she finds in the shells on the beaches, to the movement and shapes of the clouds, to the quality of light on the sand and rocks. Cecilia approaches portraits similarly - impressionistically - always working to portray an essential truth of the person.
