Liz Charsley

Victoria, British Columbia

Liz graduated from UVic with a BFA in Fine Art and Theatre, moved to London, UK, where she worked as a theatrical prop-maker for 20+ years on west end shows, and then did an MA in Drawing at Camberwell College of Art to re-engage with her art practice.
Liz was appointed Canadian Artist in Residence for a year at London's Dulwich Picture Gallery. She makes drawings (in charcoal, oil pastel, watercolour or ink) of views that have held her attention, and encouraged her to revisit, while cycling, hiking or driving across the country. Devoid of intrusive figures, they allow the viewer space for quiet contemplation.
I draw what I like, where I like, when I like (to paraphrase David Hockney)
