Jaan is a retired professor of graphic arts. He paints floral designs in acrylics and uses high impact contrasts in chroma. His intent is to explore the meaning of beauty, empathy, and the more pleasant side of human nature. He also designs welded metal sculptures and old barnwood objects, mostly for outdoor exhibit. Jaan has a Masters degree in multimedia communication and produces educational material for consideration by other 21st. century artists. Jaan belongs to the Federation of Canadian Artists, East Central Ontario Art Association, Estonian art Association in Toronto, and the Kawartha Outdoor Artists (Peterborough).
