Carol-Anne Almquist
Sechelt, British Columbia
Born in Montreal, Quebec Carol-Anne moved to BC in 1975. She worked in television and radio broadcasting until 1998 when she left to find other creative outlets. Carol-Anne studied Fine Arts including oil painting, drawing and art history at Kwantlen College. In 1998 Carol-Anne discovered watercolour which led to a deeper level of commitment. After moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2017 the focus of her work turned to painting coastal landscapes. "Early morning light, full sunlight and misty days provide the best reference material". Several of her paintings have shown in the Granville Island Gallery of the FCA and her work has been featured in The Art of Watercolour magazine.
In my painting I try to evoke the emotions that I feel when I experience the beauty of the BC landscape. I focus on the light and mood of a place, light can have so many interpretations and a paintings' meaning depends on the viewers' experience.
