Alan Douglas Ray, PhD, AFCA, SCA, OSA AFCA
Toronto, Ontario
Alan is an academy-trained, traditional oil painter based in Toronto with a passion for portraiture, figurative art, and still life. He is an AFCA signature member of the FCA and the founder and president of FCA Toronto. His paintings tend to depict quiet, private places with an air of mystery and intrigue. He describes his style as classical realism, a form of representational art that exhibits a preference for order, beauty, harmony and completeness, and the representation of nature, based on direct observation using traditional methods. Alan graduated from the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto in 2013 and has since become an elected member of the SCA, OSA, IGOR and the OPA.
Inspired by the Old Masters, my paintings tend to depict quiet, private places with an air of mystery and intrigue.
