British Columbia based self taught visual artist, Cathy has been honing her painting skills on a part time basis for the last several years. Combining her skills in Life Coaching, her love of our natural environment, culture and social interactions, Cathy brings to life the essence of these interconnections of life.
Imagining oneself, immersing oneself in the scenes and moments and re-experiencing the beauty and spontaneity of people and animals in interactions, within places, and in nature with all it's splendour. She loves to feel that she is in her paintings, re-experiencing the mood, places, people, connections, and pure joy of just being, in the moment.
Cathy's evolution into a more impressionistic style has steered her toward the application of paint with a loose brush stroke, while using vivid colour. Cathy is drawn to the use of vivid colour, and the contrast of light and shadows.
Creating the essence of light and enhancing shadow, is a never ending experiment and creative endeavour for Cathy.
While previously working in acrylics and dabbling in watercolours, Cathy now works mainly with oils.
She is continuously learning and on a path of new discoveries in each new painting, and as a result taking her creativity to a new level.
