Vancouver born, Sonia is inspired to paint with watercolour. She channels her feelings to encapsulate them in the composition of the painting. Often, the image can be so powerful that it opens up an emotion or story that the viewer wants to share. She works in a figurative and expressionist style, trying to blend colours in washes and glazing techniques on watercolour paper. She is fascinated by colours, movement and light which she tries to convey through her paintings. Her most recent series of florals and foliage explore the interplay of light and colour. She also paints landscapes and other scenes that include people caught in a moment in time.
