Brigitte Desbois is an oil painter living on the shores of Kootenay Lake. Through the use of light and color she strives to capture the mood and poetry of a landscape. She loves to approach her subject with a sense of wonder and curiosity and look deeper until an infinite beauty finds a way of revealing itself. It often does in underlying forms; when uncovering a pattern, a connecting thread, seizing a light effect or the dance of mountain peaks.

She loves the buttery texture of oils and uses thick paint and visible brushstrokes but treasures the quiet energy of restraint through simplicity. Painting from life and remaining an eternal student are an important part of her practice.
