About the Artwork

Framed Dimensions: 21" x 17.75"
Feng shui experts believe that the earth and everything on it is composed of one or more of the five basic elements: water, wood, fire, earth and metal. Water nourishes wood, wood feeds fire, fire burns to make earth and from earth comes metal. In my painting the shells represent the water, sand the earth, the candle flame is fire and the lantern is made from wood and metal. My hope is that this painting brings harmony and balance to the viewer.

Denise Nonomura

Stratford, Ontario

I strive to capture the light, colour and atmosphere whether I’m painting the landscape or unique still life arrangements. My goal with painting what moves me is to evoke an emotion in the viewer that has the ability to stir within them meaning, a memory or a feeling.

"The first experience I had with using pastel was in 2015 and it was love at first touch. The soft as butter feel as I moved the pastel across a surface and luscious colour of the pigment had me hooked on this wonderful medium!"
