About the Artwork
Plein air at VanDusen Botanical Garden.
Depicts the throne of the Aztec lord Prince Nezahualcoyotl. According to tradition, Nezahualcoyotl - poet, architect, legislator, and ruler of Tetzcoco from 1418 to 1463 - found inspiration in flowers. Hence, the setting of VanDusen Botanical Garden was deemed appropriate by the Government of Mexico, who donated the sculpture.
