There is a poem always in my head -- "The Rainy Day" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. One line stood out for this piece, "Thy fate is the common fate of all."
Having worked as a court reporter and broadcast closed captioner for 30 years, I wanted to use my shorthand notes in my artwork. The letters in the lower left is shorthand for "thy fate is."
I am thrilled with the result using collage.
To be able to introduce the element of machine shorthand into my encaustic painting is an exciting new direction for my encaustic art practice. To combine
