Born in Esquesing, Ontario, Stafford Plant studied at the Western Technical School of Art under L.A.C. Panton, Arthur Lismer, and Frank Brigden. A designer, painter, and World War II Lieutenant, he later attended UBC and became a founding member of the Toronto Arts Club and a trustee of the Vancouver Art Gallery. A Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Plant balanced commercial and fine art with meticulous precision. Disenchanted with galleries, he withdrew from public life. Upon his death in 2000, he donated 301 paintings and several endowments, ensuring lasting support for Canadian artists and institutions.
