About the Artwork
Just as these flowers emerge in nature from their dense greenery, so too do the painted subjects emerge from strokes of pastel on the toned paper. As both a drawing and painting medium, pastel allows the artist to "sculpt" the image by layering strokes of colour. This process is left "unfinished" at the edges to make it evident to the viewer.
