About the Artwork
This painting was developed from a photo taken in 1925 and depicts the general store of the Gauthier family located in Ste-Marguerite du Lac Masson in Quebec. The merchants of the time gave attention to detail, such as the lace at the top of the windows. We also note that the general store offered much more than our modern convenience stores, such toys including dolls as in the right-side window, cigarettes, milk, nails, pipes, fabric, gasoline, etc.
