Often my waking mind is yawing with memory, that slowly subsides...slips back to the subconscious. As the mind's eye provides an approximation, this piece is a portrait of 'Somebody I used to know.'

These wood assemblages are compositions that randomly emerge from cutting, shaping and arranging pieces of wood, most of which is aged tongue and groove Douglas Fir. Once assembled I sand and paint and stain. The finished piece is waxed and polished.
"I aspire to work as easily with wood as though it were a pencil, so I might scribble and doodle until there is something worth strengthening, aiming for a suggestion that might be easily acknowledged, all the while moving at such a pace that the material seems to assemble itself."
