This painting contains of five years journey, a global pandemic, climate crisis, migration, uncertainty, newness, moments of pleasure and reminiscence, self-discovery, absolute joy, fungi, and people.
This painting is the first in the series of new body of work exploring two interests of mine, Art, and Nature. In my previous work, I have been exploring the relationship between the public and the art world, by observing body language of the spectator. In this painting I put the spectators in interaction with the nature instead of art to bring attention to the climate crisis.
The fungi in the painting are all from my observations in the Pacific Spirit Regional Park where lies The Camosun Bog, a unique and fragile ecosystem that is home to dozens of plant and animal species; a threatened ecosystem that has existed for more than 2000 years.
