About the Artwork

The beauty of what black truly is becomes the center of this study of values, hues and shades in this seemingly simple subject. When the shape, size, and texture of the feathers are added it becomes apparent just how complex a form a Crow is. The intelligence of Corvidae, their ability to solve problems, use of tools, and capacity to learn are worthy of awe and are captured in the tilt of her head and look in her eye. The chosen substrate and medium lend itself well to the intricacies of such a common fixture of our world.
