About the Artwork
From mines in Afghanistan, dating back 6,500 years, lapis lazuli was a favoured stone of ancient Egypt, and was said to contain the souls of the gods. Admired for its intense colour, it is found in the death mask of King Tutankhamun and ground lapis lazuli was used as eyeshadow by Cleopatra herself.
Materials: Stained glass, corroded construction materials, 24K gold mosaic glass, gold & azure mirror tile, glass rod, recycled glass tiles, matte lapis lazuli beads, lapis lazuli and brass pendant.
