This painting was inspired by a drive in the Montérégie region under heavy weather. Here, because we are near the St. Lawrence, the weather can change in an instant and transform the land. This time the sky began shifting and pressed down on the fields, but I noticed the road remained steady and directional. At times like this, when things are about to change and the sky hovers above, I feel temporary but pulled forward, nonetheless. A road I know well becomes unfamiliar yet reassuring at the same time.
