Summer wine ninebark is the gothic, moody garden shrub - full of deep mahogany and red wine color. What garden doesn't need a touch of drama?

While this shrub started off in a small, 2 gallon bucket at the greenhouse, it now towers over 7 feet tall, dwarfing the nearby roses and irises. The deep color of the leaves was an unusual subject for watercolour - as much as the colours are in the garden itself.
