About the Artwork

Dormant
Dormant source waiting
for warmth. Would that it suffice
to swell mighty streams.
Dormant
Source dormante attend
la chaleur. Qu’elle soit assez
pour gonfler des fleuves.
Job 37 :10

Generally, we do not consider mountain snow as the source our drinking water. Too far away, we take for granted the bounty.

En général, nous ne considérons pas la neige de montagne comme la source de notre eau potable. Trop éloignée, elle est considérée comme une évidence.

Karen Blanchet

Edmonton, Alberta

Karen attended Julian Ashton Art School before finishing an Honours French Degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and a Professional A Teaching Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2016 she helped organize the collective “Devenir”. Her work forms part of collections internationally.

"We live in a fractured world. This chaos is evident in my work. In between the rivulets of paint and the textural accidents I choose colours and forms to suggest a landscape where beauty continues to reign. She is essential to the survival of humanity."
