The pinkish glow on the horizon from pollution; blobs of polluted air; environmental decline witnessed by the poor rocky plantless foreground; pandemics, shown by the appearance of the people; over-population, described by the closeness of people; greenhouse gasses, dying flora and fauna; infrastructure decay, the ghostlike silhouettes of buildings, create a feeling of despair and hopelessness.
