As I cleaned out the supporting beams under the balcony, I sent one nest crashing to the ground. Another caught my eye. The robins had used a thread from a blue tarp, weaving it expertly amid the twigs and straw, a sapphire embellishment to a perfect round. It reminded me of lace. Carefully placing it aside, I later embarked on a mini series of ink renderings under the umbrella title: Robin Lace. As always, the spaces between captured my attention. Totally immersed, I spent many hours happily following the intricate lines.

"We live in a fractured world. This chaos is evident in my work. In between the rivulets of paint and the textural accidents I choose colours and forms to suggest a landscape where beauty continues to reign. She is essential to the survival of humanity."
