I began this painting as a companion piece to West Coast Wild, but as I worked, my thoughts kept returning to my garden. I found myself waiting for rain, and eventually, I simply began to paint that feeling.
This early summer, my lovely flower beds struggled to thrive. My clematis bloomed only once, and the succession of dry days and nights took its toll. The Promise of Water is an abstracted floral botanical that contemplates the anticipation of blessing of rain and the quiet defiance of fragile flowers persisting through a very dry season.
