No One Will Know is the Artist’s rendition of an all to familiar Summer narrative. Painted in a style that she developed for her ongoing series Behind the Hedges, she tells stories both real and imagined, inspired by the character houses dotted around Vancouver’s neighbourhoods. At first look this is a charming and cozy painting of a 1940’s bungalow on a pretty street at twilight. You’ll smile at the glow of the windows, and then begin to notice all the little details carefully painted into the scene. And then you might realize what’s going on here. Someone in the neighbourhood believes that their lawn in more important than conserving water. Apparently, the water restrictions don’t apply to them. The sun is going down and out comes the old sprinkler to keep the lawn growing green.
