There is a quiet, radiant beauty in every stage of a flower’s life, just as there is in every season of a woman’s life. I’ve long been mesmerized by peonies, not only for their abundant petals and lush form, but for the way they transform with age, their petals soften, curl, and twist into unexpected shapes, becoming even more expressive and poignant.
This particular pink peony drew me in as it began to fade. Its transformation revealed an elegant, sculptural form with delicate folds, gentle shadows, and a graceful surrender to the passage of time. I often photograph a single bloom over the course of several days, letting it speak to me slowly, uncovering hidden moments of beauty I might have missed at first glance.
Painting is an act of reverence, of truly seeing. With each brushstroke, I celebrate the extraordinary in what others might overlook. This piece is a tribute to the poetry of aging, and to the way nature invites us to find it's exquisite beauty
