Behind the Rain
C$800
Behind the Rain captures a quiet moment at the Halifax Waterfront in Nova Scotia, seen through a rain-covered window. I was inspired by the way raindrops transform an ordinary city scene, softening cars, buildings, trees, and distant lights into reflections and abstract shapes. I wanted to capture not only what I saw, but also the peaceful, reflective feeling of watching the world through the rain. Through layered brushwork, subtle colour shifts, and carefully rendered water droplets, I explored the contrast between the sharp details of the foreground and the softened landscape beyond. The process allowed me to slow down and focus on small moments of lights, reflection, and movement. For me, the rain creates a visual veil between the viewer and the outside world, inviting a quiet pause and a different way of seeing a familiar place.
