About the Artwork
While hiking in Grasslands National Park, Saskatchewan, I was lucky enough to capture a blurred photo of a Ferruginous Hawk at the moment of lift off. I transformed the moment into a painting to celebrate the majesty of the largest hawk in North America. And to highlight its reliance on the native grasslands habitat of the park. Its Latin name is fitting: Buteo regalis - the regal hawk.
