The Ancient Jaws
Not For Sale
This sculpture is a rigorous anatomical reconstruction of Daeodon shoshonensis, an apex predator from 25 million years ago. Weighing approximately 2 tons, this prehistoric artiodactyl possessed massive meter-long jaws and high zygomatic arches, capable of crushing bone and preying on megafauna.
The piece features an articulated jaw joint with detailed internal oral and muscular structures. Notably, the entire work was crafted using custom-blended colored clays to achieve natural gradients; no post-sculpture painting or professional tools were used. It represents a raw, tactile fusion of paleontological accuracy and hand-sculpted artistry.
