Jesse Island is a self-contained island serviced by the city. Lots of stories about who owns it and who isn't invited to visit or land on its shoreline. I paint it 'en plein air' from Departure Bay beach often and find it intriguing not just from the stories but also the shape of the land mass sitting out there in the ocean itself and of the trees, rocks, grasses, and eagles that fly and nest there.
