About the Artwork
Explorer and missionary David Livingstone saw the Hippo hunt when he was in Zambia. It appeared to him to be a very dangerous undertaking. He wrote about it in his Journal. He also made an ink sketch of the Hippo dumping the boat and Africans swimming for their lives.
