My coloured pencil drawing What Matters is a narrative of introspection, inner strength and dignity. These elements are enhanced by drawing the figure in profile, highlighting his contemplative expression and using a dark background and a minimal, nuanced colour palette to bring focus to his proud stance. I’ve rendered the textures with a strong sense of realism, picking out light reflections in his beard and neck to draw attention to his strong and theatrical profile.
