Capturing a stolen and overwhelming moment of silence. When everything and everyone around you stops and you feel that elevated sense of spiritual energy. The Angkor Wat Temple in Siem Reap, Cambodia was built to harmonize the earth and stars. I experimented with an underpainting of acrylic paint and salt to create organic textures in the stone. I have been working on this painting for some time vowing to capture this harmony flowing from the Monk’s gaze upwards, through him and connecting to his bare feet grounded in the hot sand. I hope viewers are able to feel what I did on that day.
