About the Artwork
Horses are beautiful; some, more than others. I watched Secretariat during the post parade for the 1973 Kentucky Derby and I remember thinking, "this horse will never lose." His body was gleaming, muscles defined, eyes shooting fire, nostrils flared, head up, ears up. There were 100,000 in Churchill Downs, the band played and everyone sang, :My Old Kentucky Home". He seemed to know this was a big deal and he was part of it. He seemed to be saying, " I'm ready. Let's start the race".
