I have lived in may areas of Vancouver. Recently I moved to the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Here I see the beautiful buildings from the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s. With overlays of diversity – China, Japan, the old ports and the new. The old railways of hope covered in graffiti. Here I see all of us. The past/present/future merged like a deep geology of our Vancouver humanity.
I have tried to dig in to all the layers of us. To find the joy in our timelines. I am still digging. Finding new mediums to me but many the old masters used. This painting has been a joy of exploration.

Bordering between expressionism and realism Copeman's work is also reflective of what is revealed in her dreams. Her work tends to be intuitive rather than conceptual.
