I have always been drawn to portraiture and realism. I often work from photos as it provides the flexibility to work over a longer period of time. I discovered coloured pencil in 2019 and enjoy working with it as it allows me to capture the detail that I find so fascinating. Coloured pencil is however very slow and allows for a lot of time to think and reflect while working. With this self-portrait being the largest coloured pencil piece I have done to date; I had a lot of time to reflect on 2020 and contemplate
