Not For Sale
This painting was started on the street at the Ft. Langley Jazz Festival. The musical inspiration was indeed the fuel for this creative endeavour. Initially, it was a very abstract process with no preconceived idea or direction. It evolved to include a figurative element based on quick sketches captured during the morning parade. In creating this image, my experience was a sense of getting under the surface of the whole event, and audible, as well as, visual stimulus. I reflect and wonder at our pursuit of creative process and indivual expression. Does the inspiration come first or does improvisation stir inspiration? I am sure many a musician has pondered this, too.
