About the Artwork
This painting emerges from childhood memories of my grandparents farm in the vastness of the Alberta prairies, pressingly hot summer days, dazzling sun, arriving after a long drive and being welcomed by going to the half buried, earth covered root cellar to get cool, luscious watermelon. The painting speaks of that precious memory, creeping vines and the broad green leaves sheltering the blossoms and the new melons hidden beneath.
