About the Artwork

Presence
Interrupted rush
just before a fall, tumble,
crash. Such fun! So clean.
Présence
En tombant, l'eau rit.
La joie de vivre, source intacte
encore aujourd'hui.
Ps 104:10
Les Gorges du Durant in Valais Switzerland gave me ample inspirations for my new series "Source". All about water, the sources feeding our rivers and a concern for the longevity of potable water, the series is a warning about carelessness.

Karen Blanchet

Edmonton, Alberta

Karen attended Julian Ashton Art School before finishing an Honours French Degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and a Professional A Teaching Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2016 she helped organize the collective “Devenir”. Her work forms part of collections internationally.

"We live in a fractured world. This chaos is evident in my work. In between the rivulets of paint and the textural accidents I choose colours and forms to suggest a landscape where beauty continues to reign. She is essential to the survival of humanity."
