Folly is a portrait of my friend Eilish, behind the bar where she worked. The painting is almost life size since I wanted the viewer to feel as if they are at the bar with her. The composition was inspired by Manet’s Bar at the Folies-Bergère, hence the title of the piece. Though rooted in traditional technique, the piece has a more contemporary and cinematic look.
