This painting's inspiration came from a trip to Algonquin Park and an actual sighting this male black bear
rooting around for his supper. When we arrived was the only time he glanced up to reveal himself.
It was only a moment and will be in mind for a lifetime. I knew at that moment I had to express this on canvas.
Painting the foliage in this painting was a true pleasure and I find it gave softness where some may find this subject rugged. It really is a tropical looking area to me and I try to depict that when I can. I loved the cool colours in the distance and tried to bring balance to the entire design and composition of this amazing sighting.
This painting sold to an avid collector of mine included in the Algonquin Series. I felt it deserved to be included in this chapter challenge and thank you for reviewing it for such.
