“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”
In this painting I used primarily black, white and grey tones, adding just a few colours (yellow, blue, purple) to create this limited palette.
Out of the tangled darkness, the flowers rise up towards the light… giving hope and promise for a new day, a new year, and a confirmation of the eternal cycle of life…
Hope for the Flowers represents this time of year, as we move from darkness to light…

Anne Gudrun
North Vancouver, British Columbia
Canadian artist Anne Gudrun has always been fascinated by how colours and shapes define the essence and personality of things. Her paintings reflect the beauty of nature with bold vibrancy and an innate sense of design.
"As a young girl I read stories of fairy-tale forests, trolls, myths and magic. It’s a world of wonder, adventure, mystery and transformation and it’s that world I want to re-create through my art, opening a doorway to a more brilliant reality."
