I travelled to Alert Bay BC to paint last September, and hiked through a mystical forest of cedars that seemed impenetrable. The light shone through, illuminating a blaze of orange bark, and the boughs whispered in the breeze. My process involves building up thin layers of acrylic, with opaque lights painted negatively, in order to achieve luminous colour.
