During a Plein Air event I was busy with another scene when I turned and there it was... a fantastic tree with roots intertwined with each other, strong and twisted with so much character. Studying the tree I found myself so glad that I had turned and discovered it. It was a moment that I new that I had to paint this magnificent tree's roots. The foundation of this tree was complex. I decided mixed media would suit the tree as I paint the tissue prior to putting it on canvas
