About the Artwork

Obstacles
Far ahead he strides
showing the way, obstacles
surmounted with ease.

Soucis
Laissant les soucis
à Dieu, avance confiant sur
la route lumineuse.
Sir 43 :26

The long walk to the beach took us over hills and gullies. Sometimes treacherous, doubt clouded my appreciation. Well worth it.

La longue marche vers la plage nous a fait franchir des collines et des ravins. Parfois traître, le doute a troublé mon appréciation. Cela en valait la peine.

Karen Blanchet

Edmonton, Alberta

Karen attended Julian Ashton Art School before finishing an Honours French Degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and a Professional A Teaching Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 2016 she helped organize the collective “Devenir”. Her work forms part of collections internationally.

"We live in a fractured world. This chaos is evident in my work. In between the rivulets of paint and the textural accidents I choose colours and forms to suggest a landscape where beauty continues to reign. She is essential to the survival of humanity."
