After being on several fall cattle drives with Dale Graff' s crew at Sunset Prairie, I decided the long views were really pleasing to me. It makes me wonder why Montana is referred to as the big sky country. The vista as you move south out of the forest are stunning and on a sunny late afternoon the fall colors are great.. After doing years of drives, it seems to me that a good cow dog has proven to be indispensable and deserved a place in a fall cow drive painting.. The riders are two old friends, Billy Franks jr. and Malcolm Ridgeway..
