Whales in Gold 2021” two panels on paper, carefully rendered in oil pastel on gold tempera. Living a coastal climate in a temperate rain forest offers a close look at current concerns. A portrait or oceanscape powerfully bending the edge - synthesizing a traditional expression of east and west – Taoism and indigenous. With simplicity and spiralling form the push pull reflects turbulence in the natural world. Whales in habitat play the edge as precious. Their presence is resource and commodity that questions care and chaos in renewal.

I describe my work by way of two influences environmental and Taoist. Synthesizing a natural tendency for simplicity and form, the work presents a story depicting nature as and anexperience of a spiritual renewal .
"Environemental art is a reflection of earthstewardship - our one true resource for protecting what nurtures and nourishes the keeping of standards. Denise Richard"
