The Sockeye Salmon are on the edge of extinction unless there is more awareness and policy to eliminate this threat. As a fly fisher I have gone to the Adam's River on the fourth years of the biggest runs to observe and photograph them as they make their up way to lay their eggs and die. Every year there are less and less returning. Recently, I have been exploring Alcohol Inks. The fluidity and brilliance of the inks capture the intense color the rich red and green spawning colours, startling against the crystal clear bluegreen waters. The resin coating amplifies this even more. I am hoping this painting will raise awareness of the plight of our salmon and move people to act to conserve and rebuild their numbers.
